Outside/Inside
Csaba Nemes and Dia Zékány
With a view to current developments in Hungarian politics, the exhibition presents two artists who critically engage with Hungarian society from different perspectives. Csaba Nemes (*1966) addresses issues such as the refugee crisis, racism against the Roma community and the memory of Hungary's communist past. His paintings in the exhibition feature outdoor spaces such as landscapes, houses and public places. Dia Zékány (*1987) documents crowded, chaotic interiors – representative of the reality of petty bourgeois families.
The title of the exhibition formulates the juxtaposition of the works of Nemes and Zékány - representatives of the current Budapest art scene. The internal view of the Hungarian artist couple in a museum in Germany, at the same time provides an insight from the outside.
